Troupe 3383 News 2010-2011
South Plantation High School's Theater students are involved in more than just two broadway-quality performances per school year. From fundraising to workshops to community outreaches, Troupe 3383 is on the move and making news. This area of the website is where you can keep up on all the other activities that not only contribute to these students being great thespians and theatre technicians, but great people.
Congratulations to Our Cappie Winners!!
In one of the most competitive theater years in recent history, we proudly annouce that South Plantation High School brought home two Cappies for superior work in the musical Hairspray. And the winners are...
Santiago Carrasquilla & Taylor Hall for Best Set Design
Leah Wilson for Best Supporting Vocal in a Musical.
The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers like The Washington Post, Cincinnati Enquirer, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
At the end of the year, the student critics vote for awards that are presented at a formal Cappies Gala. In July and August, many of the top award honorees from around the U.S. and Canada are invited to participate in the Cappies International Theater, where they perform shows at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Congratulations to Santiago, Taylor and Leah on being recognized for your excellent work. And congratulations to the entire cast of Hairspray, which was nominated for 15 Cappies! You all should be very proud!
