On Sunday, October 14th 2007, award winning choreographer Ron Hutchins (Ain't Misbehavin', Five Guys Name Moe, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum) presented for the first time the "South Plantation High School Dancers" to an enthusiastic audience.
Mr. Hutchins put 27 students through an intense five week course in the art of dance and choreography that resulted in a "Dance Showcase" fundraiser at the Paladin Playhouse. After a brief introduction, Mr. Hutchins proudly presented each of the dance catagories that he taught. The dancers performed a warm up routine that prepared their bodies for what was to follow. After the warm up routine the group performed "Tornado" from the musical "The Whiz". This was followed by a Hip Hop routine that featured dance moves choreographed by the dancers themselves! Mr. Hutchins then presented an overview of the art of tap dance featuring Debbie Desravines, a clip of which we featured on the FOTT homepage. The showcase closed with an exciting performance of "All That Jazz".
Video of the event was donated by a father of one of the students in the audience. We hope you enjoy these performance as much as we did!
